Foster's Support for Southern Asia Appeals
Melbourne, 04 January 2005
Foster's Group Limited (Foster's) has developed a million-dollar, multi-faceted response in the devastating aftermath of the tsunamis in Southern Asia.
The company and its operating businesses, Carlton & United Beverages; Beringer Blass Wine Estates and Foster's Brewing International, have committed the following to the tsunami disaster relief effort:
- $1 million donation shared between five aid agencies (Australian Red Cross; CARE Australia; Oxfam Community Aid Abroad; UNICEF and World Vision)
- $500,000 of in-kind support including donation of product for fundraising events such as the Asian XI vs Rest of the World XI cricket match
- Over three million announcements promoting aid agencies' appeals placed on Foster's beverages, including VB cartons, Torquay water and Wolf Blass wine bottles
- Foster's international operations are supporting local, grass-roots aid organisations with money and appropriate goods
- Staff volunteers at two Foster's call centres took donations during the fundraising cricket match, placed hundreds of thousands of stickers by hand on VB cartons, and many individuals are organising their own workplace fundraising activities
